Gizmo
Gizmo is a 14 year old Quarter Horse X gelding. He is a big boy
at 16.1 hands. His color is an unusual dun dapple grey that seems to
be continually changing. He is easy to recognize among the other
darker horses in the group.
Gizmo joined our team in January of 2008. Before arriving at TEC,
Gizmo was being shown at training level dressage at local shows. He
has adapted very well to his life at TEC. Gizmo is a very laid back
fellow (which did not bode well for his dressage career). He is as
steady as they come. He is a favorite of our riders because of his
very gentle manners. Gizmo has been a great addition to our equine
team. He is a confidence booster for our riders; they have come to
trust that Gizmo will take care of them. He is also often ridden
independently by some of our more advanced riders. He does it all
very willingly. He eagerly greets all visitors and is always ready
to be petted. Gizmo has adapted very well to his new career!

ROLO
Rolo (Rolando is his”real” name) is a 15 year old
Belgian Warmblood gelding, imported from Belgium. He is a quite
substantial 16 hand bay with white socks and a blaze.
Rolo joined us at TEC early in 2009. Rolo had a very successful
career competing in the 2’9” to 3” Hunter Equitation divisions. He
has won several ribbons and awards at prestigious show in the area.
Unfortunately he did develop some soreness issues which ended his
jumping career. He is now fully recovered but his thoughtful owner
decided he had done enough in the show ring and it was now in his
best interest to find him a new career.
Rolo has adjusted to his new life. He never goes faster than
desired; he is a relaxed, slow moving guy with a big, long and comfy
stride. TEC is fortunate to have a horse of this quality and
training in our program. Plus, Rolo is very kind and generous in his
nature. He is a true gentleman and loves all the attention. It is a
great fit for everyone.

LUCY
Retired from our program
Some of you might remember Lucy. She was one of our first horses at TEC when we reopened in 2005. Unfortunately, it quickly
became clear that she was not happy working in the ring at TEC. She was raised outdoors and just didn't adjust to the ring work. She
tried patiently to do what was asked of her, but she was not happy. We were lucky that one of our wonderful volunteers gave her a home
when she could no longer be used in our program. But times change and last year she could no longer stay at her new home. Lucy was
once again rehomed. This time to the campus police at UMASS in Amherst. The pictures show Lucy proudly participating in the Holyoke
Saint Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 22, 2009. Some of you might have seen her in the parade or on the TV video. Our TEC horses
are very special. I wish Lucy the best of Luck.
