The Therapeutic Equestrian Center (TEC) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3)organization dedicated to providing physical, learning and recreational opportunities through horseback riding lessons.

Situated on the manicured grounds of Jericho adjacent to the beautiful Mount Tom Reservation, TEC is a 5019c)(3) private non profit organization dedicated to providing physical, emotional and social well-being of special needs children and adults. Tec encourages each participant to reach his or her highest potential and to also promote to the general public the understanding of the needs and abilities of people with disabilities. Founded in 1985, TEC has provided equestrian therapy to thousands of riders, and our growing program is ready to help many more!

Our students vary in age and abilities and their lessons are specially designed to allow each rider to develop strength, flexibility and confidence while on horseback. The Center is certified by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) and adheres to its guidelines to ensure safety for everyone involved.

Tec offers year-round riding sessions in our indoor riding arena. Since each of our student’s needs and abilities differ, the Center offers specialized lesson plans designed to work torwards enhancing the student’s abilities. The classes are limited in size so that each of our students receives individual attention from their instructors. The lessons in each session are conducted to recognized standards of excellence by instructors trained and certified in their specialized field.

In addition, TEC hosts an annual horse show designed to allow the riders the opportunity to demonstrate their new skills on horseback. Participants in the Show have the opportunity to show their friends and family their abilities, and all riders receive awards for participation.
